And so, I'm making a plea to all of you to help me out with material. Apart from not being as smart, talented, or handsome as Dave (above), I have two other key disadvantages: I live and work in Spokane, and don't get over to North Idaho much. So I don't have much of a handle (pun intended) on the local political scene. I try to keep up with the blog, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend to know what I'm talking about when it comes to Gozzer Ranch yacht wars or Marty Fortier. I'm doing this in addition to other work, so I'm not able to spend much time crusing around looking for things to post. And so - your help this week is crucial to keeping the blog flowing. Don't be shy about suggesting items to post, and please don't worry about insulting my intelligence or whatever by explaining at length why a particular post is noteworthy.
Change in credit scoring may be good for you
Bob Friedrich always pays his bills on time . . . well, almost always.
Three years ago, he sent in his monthly mortgage payment as usual, but it got lost in the mail. He thought the problem was history after he paid the overdue balance the following month. But when he got his credit report last month, he found the single late payment with a note that it was negatively affecting his credit score. Friedrich, an accountant who lives in Glen Oaks, wasn't happy, even though his score was still an impressive 790 out of 850.
"I think it was improper," said Friedrich, who contested the blemish and hopes it won't appear on future reports, which he checks yearly. "It was a single late payment that wasn't my fault. It was the post office's fault."

DUBLIN, Calif. (AP) _ Database and mobile software maker Sybase Inc. forecast adjusted first-quarter earnings in range of Wall Street's expectations Thursday. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) _ Steel products manufacturer Nucor Corp. warned Thursday its first-quarter 2008 earnings could miss Wall Street expectations, although it expects market conditions for sheet have improved as better customer inventory control has balanced reduced demand. SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ SunPower Corp. lifted its 2008 profit and revenue outlook on Thursday and said it expects to have adequate polysilicon supplies to increase production sixfold by 2010. CARMEL, Ind. (AP) _ Post-secondary education provider ITT Educational Services Inc. said Thursday it is "confident" it can achieve 2008 earnings per share of $4.50 to $4.60 despite the reduction in lender subsidies under federal student loan programs and tight credit markets which are pressuring students.
